As the fall sports season wraps up, we’ll be profiling two standout athletes from schools in the area, nominated by their athletic directors. Today's athletes are from South Burlington High School.

Ashley McDonald

Grade: 12th  

Sport: Field Hockey 

Position: Left Inner (Forward) 

What were your best and worst moments of the season? Best: Getting four goals in our home game against Mt. Abe. Worst: Playing the majority of our home games in the pouring rain. 

Do you play other sports? Which is your favorite? I play goalie in the spring for lacrosse, but field hockey is my favorite sport. 

Do you plan to play in college? Yes, I plan on playing field hockey at UVM.  

Who is your favorite athlete? Martin St. Louis. 

What other activities do you do? I love to draw :)

What is your least favorite school subject? English, I don't really like reading. 

If you could just know one language without having learning it, what would it be? Spanish! 

If you could communicate with one animal, what would it be? Definitely a dog, they're my favorite animal. 

Name something that really annoys you. Dishonesty. 

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Watermelon!

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you be? Carrie Underwood.

If you had to get a tattoo, what would you get? The Chinese symbol for "believe."

 

Josh Cassarino

Grade: 12 

Sport: Football.

Position: Center and defensive tackle. 

What were your best and worst moments of the season? Best: Beating Rutland for our season opener.  Worst: getting conceited and losing the next three games. 

Do you play other sports? Which is your favorite? Indoor track, track, and lacrosse. Lacrosse is my favorite because of the speed of the game.

Do you plan to play in college? I have aspirations to play either club or some sort of lacrosse. 

Who is your favorite athlete? Evgeni Malkin. 

What other activities do you do? I play drums and piano, and I sing.

What is your least favorite school subject? English/history. 

If you could just know one language without having learning it, what would it be? Italian. 

If you could communicate with one animal, what would it be? Dogs. 

Name something that really annoys you. Homework. 

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Cereal.

If you had to get a tattoo, what would you get? A musical line on my arm, but I really don't like tattoos.
